Gapingvoid

Hugh Macleod (gapingvoid.com) does these wonderful cartoons on the back of business cards.
I know I've emailed them to others before so they may seem familiar.
A couple of my favorites, but go to his site to see more and read what he has to say too.

Dr Fun & SWROTS

I've mentionsed one of my favorite web toons is Dr Fun
And I mentioned on Sunday a Star Wars tie in with Darth Tater.
Appears Dr Fun was in the tater groove too.

In fact most of last weeks DF were SW related.

Dirty Underwear

We all know that maternal admonition to "Wear clean underwear - you never know when you might be in an accident and end up at the hospital!" I always solved that by just going commando in my younger years (that should help your lunch time reading).

Well this story from The Register finds a Welsh woman with more than dirty underwear - well actually I guess they are dirty underwear.

Fight for the Courts

I'm worried that a lot of people don't realise what is happening right now with the Senate and the fight over judges.
On Huffington Post
this by Catherine Crier:
article.....

The real fight is not over the lower courts in the federal system, but instead, the ultimate prize--the highest court in the land. There is no question that President Bush will have the opportunity to appoint several justices to that Court during his second term. He has made his ideological preferences clear. Conservative justices aren’t enough. He wants jurists of a particular persuasion. They must satisfy the requirements of fundamentalist Christians, with a willingness to roll back the clock to a time where children prayed to Jesus in public school, gays were back in the closet and women were forced into back alleys.

Return of the Dark Ages

Superstitious beliefs Intelligent Design we'll be portrayed as science in Kansas schools.

TOPEKA, Kansas (AP) -- The Kansas school board's hearings on evolution were not limited to how the theory should be taught in public schools. The board is considering redefining science itself.

Advocates of "intelligent design" are pushing the board to reject a definition limiting science to natural explanations for what's observed in the world.

Instead, they want to define it as "a systematic method of continuing investigation," without specifying what kind of answer is being sought. The definition would appear in the introduction to the state's science standards.

The proposed definition has outraged many scientists, who are frustrated that students could be discussing supernatural explanations for natural phenomena in their science classes.

Everybody is free to believe what they want but pretending religious agendas are science is not in the interest of religion, science or education.

Other Blogs

A couple of blogs of note.

Arianna Huffungton has a blog going - all the news that's fit to mock
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/

And in light of a new Star Wars release try Darth Vader's blog
http://darthside.blogspot.com/
including a very touching Mother's Day reflection.....

Some masters were kind, and others were cruel. She came to Tatooine and worked beneath the twin suns. When she became "inexplicably" pregnant she was sold for less than her weight in meat, from Gardulla the Hutt to Watto, a Toydarian junkman with a soft heart despite a hard tongue.

And I was born.

"Two for the price of one! How do you like that?" is what my mother says Watto yelled out to everyone who came by the shop that day. Then he slapped my mother's ass and reminded the men of her impressive flexibility. "Fifty oldster-standard nuggets for an hour, hah? Good bargain, hah? Smile for the nice men Shmi."

And she would. She would smile. My mother could always smile. She smiled as she died in my arms.

More Oildale

Some more ways to tell when you're north of the river.

All right I'll lay off Oildale now. I actually like a lot about Oildale. I even had a couple of offices out there over the years (one was even the nicest office I've ever had).

Incogneeto in Oildale

Whenever I go to Oildale for safety I try to fit in.
Oildale

Actually this is from the Dr. Bukk FAMBLY PICHURE ABLUM.
Too much good stuff there (warning some names are just a little off color).

And I see where Bake Town has some Oildale connections too.

Oildale

I got this in an e-mail with a lot of other pics. I guess it's just because I'm an old B'field drunk myself but this is the first caption I thought of.

Oildale
Buford almost made it home to Oildale without an incident.
