Quick Look at the News

The main news story is of course Israel-Lebanon. There are some saying Israel has gone too far. TOO FAR?! Hezbollah is shooting rockets into their country. The moderates in Lebanon are cought in the middle but that's what happens when you harbor terrorists. I saw a statement on the news that some Hezbollah asshole said they were ready to fight to the death. Let's hope Israel grants their wish. These radical muslims - intolerant medieval thinking dicks - are no friend to the US or Israel. Syria and Iran need to go as well. GO ISRAEL.

GWB vetos stem cell research. Intolerant medieval thinking dicks. This continues to make so little sense. Politics at it's worst.

An finally one to really warm my heart. Christian posterboy Ralph Reed can't win an election in Georgia. Time calls it his comeuppance.,8599,1216274,00.html

Bakersfield Sign

Lot of talk about the Bakersfield signs and motto n.l. has a good article here

I've had my own thoughts for a long time and expressed them here and elsewhere.
Something like a quarter scale Bakersfield arch.

I'm serious about the look of the signs. As anyone who knows me realizes the motto is a joke. I actually like Bakersfield, just not everything about it. I really hate stupid feel-good-chamber-of-commerce mottos that make no sense.

Stupid Kids and Boys at School

Okay one more then I need to work.

This says it all. And yeah I think teacher unions are the problem, not lack of money.
And I send mine to private school and it ain't cheap.

This may be taken down.

Then read this from Fred this week.

In short, girls haven’t come up. They have always done well in school. Boys have gone down. Why?

I can guess. Boys are churning wads of energy. They are physical and competitive. They want to climb things, test themselves, jump off of things, explore, drive fast, fight, behave like damn fools, and sack cities. In later years this energy may serve them well, but not yet. School is hellish for them, with its year after year of sitting, bored out of their skulls, while some drone babbles. It is worse for the bright, verging on child abuse. They hate it. I did.

Girls are more orderly, patient, accept rules with less resistance, and do their homework. They have better handwriting and cut pictures from magazines to paste into projects. They finish assignments on time. In general girls are easier to deal with, certainly for the female teachers who now are almost the only teachers.

I wish I could find one thing in there to disagree with.

Mac vs PC

Those dumb ads with the guys that are suppose to be a Mac and a PC.
You know the Mac guy is hip and laid back and the PC guy is a stiff dick in a suit.
For the most part they're tru but the ads are still dumb.

Here's some fun.....

Super Sex

AH, did I get your attention?

Following yesterday's moronic post this from noted sci-fi writer Larry Niven

Man of Steel,
Woman of Kleenex

Assume a mating between Superman and a human woman designated LL for convenience.

Either Superman has gone completely schizo and believes himself to be Clark Kent; or he knows what he's doing, but no longer gives a damn. Thirty-one years is a long time. For Superman it has been even longer. He has X-ray vision; he knows just what he's missing. (*One should not think of Superman as a Peeping Tom. A biological ability must be used. As a child Superman may never have known that things had surfaces, until he learned to suppress his X-ray vision. If millions of people tend shamelessly to wear clothing with no lead in the weave, that is hardly Superman's fault.*)

The problem is this. Electroencephalograms taken of men and women during sexual intercourse show that orgasm resembles "a kind of pleasurable epileptic attack." One loses control over one's muscles.

Superman has been known to leave his fingerprints in steel and in hardened concrete, accidentally. What would he do to the woman in his arms during what amounts to an epileptic fit?

Written many years ago and still way too funny....

Tell Em You're Dick Fitzwell

Ian down at RTs used to have that t-shirt. Never failed to crack me up. Right there with the Simpson's parank calls to Moe's.

"Hey everybody. I'm looking for Amanda Huggankiss. Is there Amanda Huggankiss here?"

Or the Bob & Tom song Charlie's Tavern.
"I'm looking for Richard Smoker - but all his friends call him Big Dick."
"Sharon Peters"
"Wilma Fingerdoo"

Sometimes I answer my phone with a phoney name.
"Norm Eswood here."

Now we have the internet name version.
1. A site called ‘Who Represents‘ where you can find the name of the agent that represents a celebrity. Their domain name… wait for it… is

2. Experts Exchange, a knowledge base where programmers can exchange advice and views at

3. Looking for a pen? Look no further than Pen Island at

4. Need a therapist? Try Therapist Finder at

5. Then of course, there’s the Italian Power Generator company…

See more? Seymour Butts?

Where do you get it? Hopefully from a lot of sources.
Now I read The Bakersfield Californian every morning (I've twenty minutes to spare - HA!). Usually before that I watch a half hour or so of news while laying in bed before I get up. Some local just to catch the weather and whatever 'BIG' stories have occurred. Maybe a little CNN or Faux News or Channel 5 (wait they don't even call themselves that anymore - KTLA - sheeeeesh - fuck up your own brand recognition).

A whole lot of crap with a little news. SFGate, and The LA Times online. Google news is my favorite aggregator. For RSS feeds it's FireFox live bookmarks and way too many feeds. Since I'm a professional computer geek, must reads include The Register, The Inquirer, eWeek, ZDnet and Cnet. And I read a few blogs that don't have RSS feeds. Oh and comics online to get all the ones I like that our humble little fish wrapper won't carry., (used to be ucomics) SFGate and Seattle Post-Inquirer. Gotta do the crosswords - LA Times and back to SPI latter if I have some time for extra xword amusement.

I have no use for talk radio left or right. I turn on Bob & Tom for the laughs. I no longer read news magazines, having the internet has replaced that.

Maybe I get enough as it is.

What I really wanted to bring up however was my new favorite. Countdown with Keith Olbermann. I usually can catch it at 5 if I'm not working late (I know what you're thinking, Yes I'd rather be at RT having a beer or three at that time but I've been behaving lately). One guy I read said Olbermann, who he likes, was kind of snarky.
If he means witty and cynical, yeah that's Keith. A lot of people would call me that too - well less witty, more cynical. Must be why I like him.

Yeah he is a little bit liberal. So is John Stewart. But while I'm a political conservative about a lot of things I'm not a hardhead lockstepping right winger. I wouldn't watch O'Really if it came with a $1000 bonus and a blowjob. I'd rather be informed and entertained then preached to.

Countdown with Keith Olbermann - highly recommended.

Squirrel Tossin'

Okay I debated hard on rather to post this or not. I'm no PETA fan by any means but I really don't care for animal abusers either.

Let's face it. Typical 20 somthin' B'field boy antics. And he seems proud to have pissed a lot of people off.
I put this video up on Myspace at 12' or so last night and it will get have 10'000 views by tonight and over 200 "I hate you" comments. Man it's so awesome.

I myself doubt the squirrels were hurt. (However he doesn't seem to know that ground squirrels aren't tree squirrels). Does he have any clue the danger presented to himself if scratched or bit? Revenge can be sweet.

Up to now I've found a number of his pics amusing.

Independence Day

What a mixed bag.

Try reading this story in The LA Times today with a dry eye.
Injured in Iraq, a Soldier Reclaims His Independence
And view the pictures too.

Now read this and think about our modern King George and his administration's ability to shred our rights.(Thanks Dave).

Think well of our troops. To hell with GW.

Now time for some beer, good food, friends and family, and a few fireworks later.
Have a good fourth and remember the freedoms we have and to vote and fight to keep them.
